To take part in this week you should have reasonable experience in your craft (kayak, canoe or paddle board).  You should also have achieved the British Canoeing Paddle Discover Award, the Scouts Paddle Sports Stage 2 Activity Badge or equivalent.  

This course welcomes all paddlers, regardless of your chosen craft (kayak, canoe, or paddle board).  We'll focus on improving your paddling skills by introducing, exploring, and practicing simple strategies and safe techniques, that will enable you to solve common paddling issues. 

Towards the end of the week, you will work towards completing the British Canoeing Paddlesport Safety & Resue course. This course will give you the key safety and rescue skills required to operate safely and be able to deal with common problems in a sheltered water environment.  

The Paddlesport Safety & Rescue course is essential if you wish to progress to a Paddlesports Instructor award and is useful for all other leader and coach awards.
