Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor

This two-day course is designed for individuals who will be delivering Leave No Trace Workshops and Leave No Trace Skills Courses* in the future or embedding Leave No Trace in other programmes. Through short classroom discussions, outdoor lectures and outdoor activities, this course will cover the seven Leave No Trace principles and discuss outdoor ethics in the UK. It will give the participants tools and techniques for disseminating low-impact skills to others.  

This course is designed to enhance your understanding of Leave No Trace practices and ethics and to increase your level of expertise and confidence in teaching Leave No Trace skills. Through focused activities, hands-on field experience and both formal and informal discussions, you will be introduced to concepts and methods that will advance your knowledge of Leave No Trace issues, expand your repertoire of low-impact skills and increase your effectiveness in teaching these important skills to others.  This is a relaxed programme where all participants have a part in demonstrating the choices that can be made to minimise our impact on the land and our resources.

As part of the Level 1 Instructor Course, participants will have the opportunity to plan and run a 15 minute outdoor-based activity/session on one of the Leave No Trace principles.  The course will involve a short expedition with a camp out overnight so you will need to be comfortable and have equipment for this including food.
