Do you know your sheep shank from a square lashing, campfire from a mound fire or your hike tent from a patrol tent? Our experienced instructors will introduce you to practical scouting skills while directing you to further information and resources that will help you keep traditional skills in your programs and develop meetings that share practical content.

If you feel uncomfortable running activities outside your normal meeting place, lack ideas for games or simple activities to do outside, then this course will give you the skills and confidence to run a selection of activities outside and know how to risk assess them. This course will ultimately be directed by the participants needs, however, areas we are likely to cover include:

Teambuilding games - why are they useful and how we can adapt them for different sections.
Camp craft - basics of setting up a camp, geodesic vs tunnel vs patrol tents, stoves and stove safety.
Intro to orienteering skills - the resources you need, where to find them, tech that can be used to support, and how these skills link to badge programs.
Intro to risk assessments - dynamic vs static assessments.
Pioneering skills - intro to knots, structures, projects, and how to keep it simple.
